PVC Fabric

We stock a variety of PVC fabric for your clothing, tablecloth and waterproof lining needs. Whether you’re after plain PVC, festive patterns for Christmas dining or funky patterns like leopard print and polka dots - we have the option for you.

What is PVC made from?

PVC stands for Polyvinyl Chloride and it’s produced by polymerization of vinyl chloride monomer (VCM). The most popular polymerization methods include emulsion, suspension and bulk (mass).

PVC is now commonly known as Vinyl and has become one of the most widely used plastics across the world.

Fashion-forward PVC dressmaking

PVC has become a popular material amongst women for form-fitted clothes like bodycon dresses, wet-look leggings and even accessories like handbags.

However, PVC has little to no stretch or drape, so it’s essential that you measure your fabric and shapes accurately before sewing to ensure a great fit - first time!

Top tips for sewing and embroidering on PVC fabric

While PVC is a fantastic material to work with, it can be tricky to sew! Here are a few things to bear in mind:

You can’t machine sew plastic materials, and they can be tricky to hand sew due to the tough coating. Use a larger size 12-14 needle and remember not to use pins, as they will leave small holes in the fabric which could cause ripping later on! Instead, double-sided masking tape can be a great tool!
